Organisations collaborate to help children in need

BF Petroleum Group, together with various Caltex Service Stations, recently sponsored a 480km cycling tour in aid of 196 disadvantaged children. The initiative came about when Caltex Bochum approached the Group with their desire to create awareness and raise funds for children in its community who live in a home close to their Service Station.
With the support of BF Petroleum Group and other sponsors, Caltex Bochum proceeded to organise the Cycling Tour that would have participants cycle from one province to the next with pit stops at various Caltex Service Stations along the route. Fortunately, when the other service stations heard of the Tour, they immediately expressed their support for the initiative.
“The Bochum Cycling Tour is a noble endeavour which we happily supported due to the cause behind the initiative,” says Mr Frans Pieters, Chief Operating Officer at BF Petroleum Group. “BF Petroleum Group is delighted to have been a sponsor for this Tour. We are extremely proud of the Caltex Service Stations who supported Caltex Bochum, and especially those who gave donations to the Home.”
The Bochum Cycling Tour, as it was dubbed, took place between 21 and 23 September and had cyclists pedalling the 480km gruelling trip from Limpopo to Gauteng with burning quad- and calve muscles, and a serious dedication to alleviate the children’s plight.
“It is imperative that we support our local communities and that we give back to those in need,” says Mr Pieterse. “It warmed our hearts to see the collaboration and commitment of people who unconditionally contributed to making a difference in the lives of those children.”
As a result of the donations and sponsorships from the Cycling Bochum Initiative, the Home received a water tank, pipelines from the borehole to the tank and three new taps that will enable the supply of running water, which it so desperately needs. The Home also received various gifts and groceries for the children. Various service stations even donated food packages and refreshments for the cyclists.
BF Petroleum Groupand Caltex Bochum would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the following service stations and companies that supported the initiative:
- Caltex Seko Motors Bochum
- Caltex Ivy Park
- Caltex Star Stop The Ranch
- Caltex Mokopane (Eager Motors)
- Caltex Cessnyl Modimolle
- Sanrock Resort
- Seattle Coffee
“At BF Petroleum Group, we realise that life’s journeys are more fulfilled when you contribute to the societies and the communities around you,” concludes Mr Pieterse.
