Cyclists from Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo joined hands to raise funds for 192 children in need!

On 21 September 2019, a group of cycling enthusiasts departed on a gruelling 515km Cycle Tour from Senwabarwana (Limpopo) to Suikerbos Nature Reserve (Gauteng) in order to raise awareness and funds for Kodumela Moepa Thutse Child Care Centre in the Mohodi village near Dendron. The initiative, aptly named the Caltex & BF Cycle Tour 2019, was supported by multiple local businesses.

“The tour was preceded by grand moments, where cyclists from Limpopo, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal met each other for the first time,” says Shaun Ramahlodi, Caltex & BF Cycle Tour Organiser. “We were pleasantly surprised by the many wonderful people and organisations who stepped forward to help make the Tour a success. We are truly grateful for their support.”

The funds raised will be utilised to build adequate ablution facilities for Kodumela Moepa Thutse Child Care Centre, which takes care of 192 children, aged between 6 to 14 years. In 2018, the project collected basic necessities and food and completed a much-needed water project for the Centre.

“It is a privilege to be part of an initiative that supports our communities, and especially our children,” says Frans Pieterse, Chief Operating Officer at BF Petroleum Group. “We are grateful to all the organisations who joined us in sponsoring this event and making it a success.”
